Who is this programme for?
For teachers of any subject who seek strategies to help students plan and structure their writing, as well as close the vocabulary gap.

Outcomes
Delegates will leave with practical strategies to help students plan and structure their writing, as well as develop subject specific vocabulary and close the vocabulary gap. The session will explore how Pie Corbett’s “Talk for Writing” ideas can be applied in secondary school. The following will be explored during the session;

• What are the barriers to students’ writing?
• How can we help students structure their writing?
• How do we use high quality models effectively?
• How can we “warm up the words” for writing and help close the vocabulary gap?
• How can we include creative and challenging writing activities in our schemes of work?

Who are the Trainers?
The course is delivered by Janet Bradley, Lead Practitioner in English and Specialist Leader of Education. As an experienced English teacher with responsibility for whole school literacy, Janet has designed the course for colleagues across the school who are responsible for teaching extended writing in their subjects.

The course will help promote literacy across the curriculum which is essential in helping all students to access the curriculum.

How will my students benefit?
The course is aimed at helping students to become more confident and focused in their writing and gain strategies to reach the higher marks.
