Who is this programme for?
For all Secondary NQT+1s (those in their first year following successful completion of the NQT year) with a keen interest in developing a greater depth of understanding in Pupil Behaviour and how best to respond to it.

Outcomes
The workshop aims to build on existing practice developed in the NQT year to move NQT+1s forward towards outstanding teaching.  It will support NQT+1s to provide a learning environment which promotes good behaviours, engagement and mental health. It goes through practical ways of planning for pupil behaviour and uses recent breakthroughs in neurological research to evidence why certain strategies, scripts and interventions work and why others do not.
The following will be explored during the session:

• The Brain and brain development
• Attachment theory and impact in the classroom
• What Mental Health is and how it impacts behaviour
• Behaviour Management plans
• Effective Communication skills

Who is the trainer?
This session will be delivered by Steve Phillips who is Deputy Head of the Children’s Support Service. Part of his job is to support schools to work effectively with challenging behaviour and he is also the behaviour lead on the PRU National Executive Committee.
How will my School benefit?
Delegates will gain a clearer understanding of the causes of difficult and challenging behaviour and how best to plan and respond to it, reducing stress and frustration for all involved.
How will my students benefit?
Pupils will benefit by experiencing a school environment more suited to promoting positive behaviour and good Mental Health.
