NASBTT Accredited Level Two Mentor Training

Who is this programme for?
This one day course is suitable for experienced Primary and Secondary mentors of both Initial Teachers Trainees (ITT) and Newly Qualified Teachers and those mentoring other colleagues wishing to build on existing skills.

Outcomes
Delegates will increase their knowledge and understanding of effective mentoring and coaching. They will consider:

  • An introduction to Transactional Analysis
  • Remaining neutral
  • Re-Scripting Feedback
  • Managing poor performance
  • Holding difficult conversations
  • Workplace coaching

Mentors will gain a nationally recognised qualification, Level 2 Advanced Mentoring and Coaching qualification accredited by The National Association of School-Based Teacher Trainers (NASBTT). This will enable schools to support their trainees and Newly Qualified Teachers when the proposed 2 year Newly Qualified Teacher induction is introduced by the Department of Education as part of the Early Career Framework (ECF).

Who are the Trainers?
The course is delivered by Suzanne Haskins a National Leader of Education and Essex Headteacher. Suzanne is a very experienced facilitator who has developed and delivered a range of leadership development materials. Suzanne has been accredited by The National Association of School-Based Teacher Trainers to deliver this course.

How will my School benefit?
Schools will have accredited mentors who have the appropriate accreditation and therefore are able to mentor trainee teaches and Newly Qualified Teachers effectively when the 2-year NQT induction is introduced.  Trainees and Newly Qualified Teachers will benefit from having a qualified mentor who can challenge, support and guide them during those crucial early years of teaching, supporting them in their journey to be the best teacher that they can be!

How will my students benefit?
Students will in turn benefit from having a skilled and motivated teacher who feels supported to provide the high quality teaching that leads to the best possible student outcome.
