Governors role in exclusions and panel hearings (for Governors and Trustees) Download Flyer

A guide for boards on their duties hearing appeals and overseeing exclusions

Overview
Governing boards may be asked to form a panel in several circumstances, such as hearing an exclusion appeal, dealing with a disciplinary issue, or hearing a complaint. These are becoming more common, so being well prepared for these is essential.

This webinar provides guidance to organising exclusion hearings and other statutory panels.
On this webinar, the following will be explored:

  • Understanding the different types of panels you may need to convene
  • How to approach exclusion hearings
  • How to ensure parental complaints are heard
  • The importance of a policy
  • How to manage appeals hearings
  • How to manage disciplinary hearings
  • The different roles on the panel
  • Where to get support
  • Who should be involved

All delegates receive an electronic copy of the presentation and supporting materials and resources to help them be more impactful in their governance role.

Who should attend?
Any governors or trustees involved in sitting on or leading panels or hearings.
